  • Court banned the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tribuna/ Sayasi kalam "Zhanbolat Mamay to engage in journalistic activities for three years.
  • The editor-in-chief of "CentralAsiaMonitor" and the director of the web-site "Radiotochka" Bigeldy Gabdullin was forced to leave journalism.
  • President of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, President of the National Press Club, Almaty, Seytkazy Matayev, was released on parole.

From January to December the following guilty verdits were brought - 19:

- public slander and insult - 6 (out of 21 charges)

- Incitement of social, national, tribal, racial, class or religious discord - 10 (of 12)

- extortion - 1

- legalization of money or other property acquired illegally - 1

- failure to comply with a court decision - 1

 

CIVIL CLIAMS TO MEDIA AND JOURNALISTS –  76;

claims and lawsuits on protection of honor, dignity and business reputation - 75

Claimed amounts of compensation for moral damage - 196 million 460 thousand tenge.

Collected compensation for moral damage  - 54 mln. 40 th. tenge

Appelants of civil claims to media: civil servants - 20 , Legal entities - 27, citizens - 28

Judgments rendered – 60 (Incl. 22 - in the appeal, in the cassation - 2). Of those in favor of the media and the citizens - 31.
